Emre Tanırgan, Prototype Developer, Magic Leap
Emre currently works as a prototype developer in the gesture recognition team at Magic Leap, building novel gesture experiences and interactions that will be brought to life on the company’s mixed reality headset. His first experience with VR was at Disney Imagineering R&D, where he helped the design and development of Disney theme parks through the use of emerging technologies.
Over the past 2 years, Emre has been working on Paradiddle, a VR drumming application that lets users practice their drumming skills without the limitations of the real world. Paradiddle won an Oculus Launch Pad Scholarship in 2016, and is currently available on major VR platforms through Steam Early Access. During his senior year, Emre helped develop DORA, a telepresence robot that could be remotely operated by a user wearing a VR headset, which in turn mimicked the user’s head movements.
As a Penn CGGT and DMD alum, Emre likes to think about non-gaming applications of XR technologies.
